If you were on Khao San Road, you were doing it only for attention (and you were close to the hospitals).  It would be more appropriate if you were on your elephant trek in the highlands at some campsite.  :) You didn't mention the taste...like chicken ?

I confess.  You're absolutely right.  I was doing it to show off...  and this time, not to impress a girl. 

For the past week I had been hanging out with a massive, tatooed ex-con (but a super nice guy).  I just didn't feel quite like a man next to him.  When he saw the bugs he was absolutely disgusted - I saw my chance to restore my masculinity a bit, so I ordered the biggest bug they had.

It was _disgusting_!  The taste was horrid, but the worst part was that you couldn't even swallow it quickly because you first had to chew through the tough exo-skeleton.  Horrible!  :-)
