All the other tourists were absurdly afraid of the Ganges.  They all seemed to think that if their big toe got wet they would die of some horrible disease.  I said "fuck it" mostly to spite them.  If the Indians brush their teeth in the river than I can probably survive a quick dip.  A crazy japanese guy decided to join me.

The water felt surprisingly clean and cool.  I expected it to feel slimy and nasty, but nothing of the sort.  It was a pleasant little swim.  Though, I did keep my head out of the water and washed immediately afterwards.
