You've probably seen de-mining on CNN or BBC. Deminers wear body armor and use metal detectors. They proceed incredibly slowly and carefully; poking at the dirt. The Cambodian villagers that I went with just whack at the ground with a shovel. It seems like insanity. However, Akira at least knows what he's doing. Detonating a landmine takes 15 pounds of downwards pressure. If you hit the side of one with your shovel, it will not go off -- Don't try this at home!
