Whoa! What an intense few days.
I suddenly get sick and find myself having a near death, out of body experience, while riding in a horse drawn carriage turned ambulance on the way to the only medical clinic on the island. I'll write a lot more about this later and just don't have time now..
Sounds bad doesn't it? Well.... as always I manage to turn the negative into the positive. And no, I did not find religion.
In my incapacitated state, I checked into the nicest hotel in town and am now staying there - It doesn't have the same charm as the bamboo shack, but it is very nice and I think I can bill it to insurance as a hospital stay.
Secondly, I find myself adopted by the family of the nurse that treated me in the clinic. In a few days, I'm heading off to Lombok with my new host, Ahmet. As much fun as it was chatting up bikini-clad Australian on the beach I'm looking for culture and new experiences. How ironic is it for me to find my way into experiencing Indonesian culture not through the cheapest hotel in town, but the most expensive?
I'm leaving the backpacker trail, and don't know when I'll be logging in again.
Word of the week is 'fate'.
I didn't intend this initially, but how about that for a suspenseful journal entry?
P.S. And, if you're still worried about the sick thing - don't worry - I'm fine now. Dialup connection keeps dying I need to log out now.
P.P.S. Have fun at Burningman!
