November 12, 1999 - Caye Caulker
The weather has not been great. A lot of heavy rain. The potential of a Hurricane headed this way.
However, yesterday was the perfect vacation day. Motivation is hard to come by on an island with a very laid back way of life. I just barely managed to make it to the 1:30 snorkeling trip. I've seen pretty fishes before, but we got an opportunity to swim surrounded by Sting Rays, with the addition of a couple of very beautiful Eagle Rays and one or two Nurse Sharks.
From there we commenced to start drinking. Rum, rum, rum. There was definitely a bar that was full of hammocks and had swings instead of barstools. Dancing was done. Fishbowls of rum, and then finally at 1am after all the bars closed swimming before heading back to the hostel and passing out. Somehow, I woke up this morning with no hangover.
Next stop... San Ignacio near the Guatemalan border.
